We're a small team of hobbyist photographers based in California. After wrestling with vague home-insurance riders and surprise premium hikes on our own gear, we built GetCameraGuard to help other photographers avoid the same problems.

None of us work in insurance. What we do have is a lot of first-hand frustration with sublimits that don't cover a single modern camera body, riders that exclude accidental damage, and claims that can put an entire home policy at risk. That's the gap this site tries to close — a plain-language comparison of the standalone gear-insurance options that actually exist, researched and re-checked against providers' own policy pages rather than recycled from other "best camera insurance" lists.

We are not an insurance provider, broker, or agent. We don't sell policies or underwrite coverage — we simply research and compare options, and every link on this site goes directly to the insurer's own site. See our comparison methodology for how we evaluate providers.
